Bougainvillea Flower Show kicks off in Delhi

The first Bougainvillea Flower Show kicked off on April 14 at Garden of Five Senses, Said-Ul- Ajaib, South of Saket, New Delhi. 

In this three-day show colour bougainvillea flowers of different varieties including red, pink, and orange, white and purple are on display including Bougainvillea Bonsai plants and Garden tray-based Bougainvillea. Apart from Bougainvillea, fruits, and vegetables plants are additional attractions for visitors.

CPWD, PWD, DDA, NDMC, MCD, Netaji Subhash University, Grotech Landscapes Developers Pvt. Ltd., DS Group, Green Solutions are the major participant in this Bougainvillea flower show.

Bougainvillea is a tropical tufted flowering vine, which is often used in gardens, walls, hedges, vines etc. Bougainvillea is a beautiful plant and its flowers bloom profusely in summer, although under ideal conditions, it can bloom throughout the year.  Its special requirement is high temperature and low water. The plant has 20 species and 300 varieties, for which no special soil is required.  It is specially used in Ayurvedic medicines.

In the festival, there are eight classes on display as below:

1.       Class – A  (Bougainvillea Pots Category – sections 6)

2.       Class – B  (Small Bougainvillea Pots Category- 4 section) 

3.       Class – C   (Bougainvillea Bonsai Category – open to all) 

4.       Class – D  (Annual / Perennial flowering pots) Open to all 

5.       Class – E  (Garden Tray based on Bougainvillea theme) Open to all 

6.       Class – F (Fruit Plants in Pots) Open to all 

7.       Class – G (Vegetable Plants in pots) Open to all

8.       Class – H (Topiary) Open to all
