Daryaganj Announces Its First ‘Daryaganj Gold’ in India, Expands Presence in Aerocity

Seven years after opening its first outlet in Aerocity, Daryaganj returns to familiar ground with a new chapter in its journey. The brand has announced the launch of Daryaganj Gold at GMR Square, marking its most elevated format yet and its second outlet in the precinct.

The move signals a strategic expansion for the homegrown brand, which first built its identity around reviving nostalgic North Indian flavours rooted in legacy recipes. While the original restaurant focused on simplicity and familiarity, Daryaganj Gold aims to extend that experience into a more immersive and expansive format.

Spread across a larger footprint with seating for over 150 guests, the new space places equal emphasis on food and environment. The idea, the brand suggests, is not merely to scale up but to create a setting where cuisine, memory, and atmosphere intersect more deliberately.

At the centre of the offering remains the restaurant’s Classics Menu, which continues to draw loyal patrons. Complementing it is the newly introduced Daryaganj Gold Menu, developed exclusively for this format. The additions reinterpret familiar dishes while retaining their original character, reflecting a careful balance between innovation and continuity.

The menu also introduces a dedicated chaat selection, revisiting popular Indian street food with a refined approach. Dishes such as Dahi Bhalla BingsuGol Gappa Trio, and Mushroom Ram Ladoo sit alongside more indulgent offerings like the 24 Karat Mutton Biryani and India Gate Avocado Bhel Puri, bringing together elements of nostalgia and contemporary presentation.

A notable aspect of the culinary direction is its historical grounding. Several dishes trace their origins back to 1947, including Jelly Fruit Cream Custard and Nargasi Kofta, once served by Kundan Lal Jaggi. These recipes continue to anchor the brand’s identity, even as the format evolves.

The kitchen is led by Chef Gaurav Pandey, whose experience spans over 15 years across premium restaurants and luxury hospitality spaces. He works alongside Chef Deep Chand Dobriyal, who continues to guide the brand’s core offerings and preserve its established flavour profile.

Among the experiential highlights is the Five Senses Curries, offered in both mutton and chicken variants. Designed as a multi-sensory preparation, the dish unfolds through stages—from the sound of slow cooking to the aroma released upon opening, culminating in the final tasting. Much of this process is visible through the open kitchen, integrating the act of cooking into the dining experience itself.

Beyond the food, the format introduces several interactive elements. A live tawa and chaat section recreates the dynamism of Indian street food, while Chef Theatre Nights bring guests closer to the culinary process through curated, chef-led experiences.

Evenings at the restaurant adopt a more relaxed tone through Daryaganj Studio Nights, which feature a mix of curated music experiences, including reinterpretations of classic tracks and occasional live performances.

The layout also accommodates more intimate gatherings, with private dining rooms designed for groups of 8, 12, and 20 guests—catering to both social and professional occasions.

Commenting on the launch, Amit Bagga said, “This is truly a full-circle moment for us. Seven years ago, around this time, we opened our very first Daryaganj restaurant here at Aerocity. With Daryaganj Gold now at GMR Square, we return with a much bigger, more elevated and immersive experience.”

The name “Gold” carries a deeper association with the brand’s legacy. It references Swaran Jaggi, wife of Kundan Lal Jaggi, whose culinary influence continues to shape the restaurant’s identity. “Swaran,” meaning gold, has been embedded in the brand’s narrative from the outset.

While the format introduces new layers to the dining experience, the underlying philosophy remains unchanged. The brand continues to draw from time-tested recipes and familiar flavours, choosing to build around them rather than reinvent them entirely.

With Daryaganj Gold, the company also indicates a measured expansion strategy, with plans to limit the format to one outlet per city in key markets. The approach reflects an intent to retain exclusivity while positioning the concept as a premium extension of the original brand.

In doing so, Daryaganj appears to be attempting a careful balance—holding on to its culinary roots while adapting to a more experience-driven dining landscape.
