2023 to be ‘Visit Andhra Pradesh’ year

Andhra Pradesh will observe 2023 as the ‘Visit Andhra Pradesh’ year to boost the tourism and hospitality sectors in the state.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Jagan Mohan Reddy recently declared 2023 as the Visit Andhra Pradesh year.  With the new promotional campaign, the government of Andhra Pradesh is looking to create awareness about the diversity of its rich tourism products and experiences.

The tourism department of the state has been very active in developing infrastructure and attracting investment in the tourism sector.

Tourism and hospitality is a critical sector as it contributes to large employment. It has gone through turbulent times in the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic but is now recovering,” Special Chief Secretary (Tourism and Culture) Rajat Bhargava told PTI.

The new campaign is one-of-its-kind and the first one introduced by any state in the country. The tourism department in order to promote its new campaign will reach out directly to the members of national travel trade associations including ADTOI, TAAI, IATO, FRETA, and all the regional bodies like EHITTOA.

On their part, all travel agents and hoteliers of the state will carry the logo of ‘Visit AP 2023’ as their signature in their mailers. Moreover, the state’s tourism department will organise roadshows across the country and host FAM trips to boost tourism activities as part of the campaign strategy.

While the port city of Visakhapatnam would be a gateway destination during ‘Visit Andhra Pradesh’ year, new tourist circuits like tribal, Buddhist, caravan tourism, sports tourism, religious tourism, forts, and cuisine of the state would be also extensively promoted.

We are also opening new-defined temple tourism circuits that include the holy Shaktipeethams in the state,” added Bhargava.

Though the announcement of the campaign has been made, a grand launch is expected in the first week of December.
