GoAir expands international operations with the ​addition of new flights

Budget carrier, GoAir has announced the addition of three new international destinations to its network that includes Bangkok, Kuwait and Dubai. 

The airline has commenced its daily flights on the New Delhi – Abu Dhabi route with fares starting at Rs 7,098 and daily flights on the Mumbai – Abu Dhabi route with fares starting at Rs 6,599 on July 19, 2019. The same day it also started flights on the Mumbai – Muscat route with fares starting at Rs 7,100.

On July 25, 2019, GoAir will commence maiden flights on the New Delhi – Bangkok sector and Kannur – Dubai sector. On August 1, 2019, GoAir will commence its maiden flights on the Mumbai – Bangkok route. Subsequently, GoAir will start Kannur – Kuwait flights too.

“We will be operating 77 weekly international flights beginning August 1. We already operate 21 weekly frequencies to Phuket that consists of daily flights from New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru respectively. We also operate daily flights from Kannaur to Muscat and daily flight from Kannaur to Abu Dhabi,” said Arjun Dasgupta, VP – International Operations, GoAir.

GoAir has launched four international destinations that include Phuket, Male, Muscat and Abu Dhabi since October 2018. On the domestic front, GoAir is strengthening its Hyderabad operations with eight new flights from Hyderabad to Cochin, Chennai, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Chandigarh and Patna. Out of these, two flights are frequency additions on existing Hyderabad – Bengaluru – Hyderabad sector.

“Our strategy is focused on three pillars of convenience, affordability and punctuality. Earlier, this year, GoAir was operating approximately 250 daily departures. Today, we are operating 285 daily departures and we will be operating 300 daily departures from India by the end of this year. New Delhi is the largest hub for us with 54 daily departures to 25 destinations including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Goa, Phuket, Chandigarh, Jammu and Male to name a few,” said Samir Patel, VP – Network Planning, GoAir.

To support the network expansion, the private carrier is enhancing its aircraft fleet too. It recently took delivery of its 51st aircraft.The airline will be adding at least one aircraft every month. 

“We are a fast growing airline. One of our key target markets is millennials. We have tried to understand the travel demand of this segment. The young travellers are looking at unique experiences through international travel. On the other hand on-time performance and connectivity within the domestic network are going to be key focus areas for us,” said Shabnam Syed, VP – Marketing & E-Commerce, GoAir.

 Regarding temporary slots acquired from Jet Airways, Patel said that the airline is currently operating 28 flights domestically where Jet Airways used to operate. Patel added that the GoAir flights to Dubai, Bangkok and Kuwait would be on the same slots where Jet Airways used to operate.
