ICPB elects Amaresh Tiwari as Vice Chairman for 2026–28 term

The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) has elected a new 15-member Governing Board for the 2026–28 term, with Amaresh Tiwari appointed Vice Chairman as the organisation looks to strengthen India’s position in the global meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) market.

The appointments were announced following the bureau’s Annual General Meeting and election process in New Delhi on October 27. Sudeep Sarcar has been elected Honorary Secretary, while Ashish Jagota has been elected Honorary Treasurer.

The new board brings together representatives from professional conference organisers, destination management companies, venues, hotels, professional event organisers and allied businesses. It assumes office as India continues to expand its convention infrastructure and improve connectivity to attract international conferences, exhibitions and corporate events.

Commenting on his election, Tiwari said India had an opportunity to strengthen its standing among the world’s leading business events destinations.

“India is at a defining moment in its journey to emerge as a leading global MICE destination. With world-class convention infrastructure, improving connectivity and growing international interest, we have an unprecedented opportunity to position India among the world’s most competitive business events destinations,” he said.

Tiwari added that the bureau would focus on closer government-industry collaboration, improving India’s visibility in international markets, promoting emerging MICE destinations and creating more business opportunities for its members.

The newly constituted board includes Naveen Rizvi of ICE-Incentive Conference and Event Management Pvt. Ltd. and Vibha Bhatia of MMACTIV Sci Tech Communication Pvt. Ltd. as professional conference organiser representatives. The destination management company representatives are Tushar Kesharwani of Vacation Experts Pvt. Ltd., Riyaz U.C. of Spiceland Holidays Pvt. Ltd., Omesh Raina of GIG Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. and Dharmendra of Geanis World & MICE.

Vikas Sood of Jaipur Exhibition & Convention Centre (Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre) represents the venue segment, while Randhir Gupta of MAYFAIR Hotels & Resorts Limited and Mohammad Ali of AAPC India Hotel Management Pvt. Ltd. (Accor Hotels) represent the hotel sector. Sanjeev Pasricha of CS Direkt Events & Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd. represents professional event organisers, while Deepika Chowdhary of Candid India and Raghav Khosla of Exhibition Showcase represent allied businesses.

Sarcar said his priority would be to work closely with members and strengthen collaboration across government, convention and exhibition organisers, venues, hotels and service providers.

“We must support one another in attracting international events and delivering experiences that bring organisers and delegates back to India,” he said, adding that ICPB would work to create more opportunities for members to connect, share knowledge and develop business.

Jagota highlighted the importance of financial governance in supporting the bureau’s ambitions. “Sound financial governance today, global leadership tomorrow. My vision is an ICPB that is transparent, sustainable and taking India’s convention story to every corner of the world,” he said.

The board’s agenda also includes capacity building, professional development, knowledge sharing and stronger partnerships with international associations and convention organisers. These efforts are intended to help India attract prestigious global meetings and events while encouraging wider participation across the business events ecosystem.

ICPB, the country’s apex body dedicated to promoting India as a MICE destination, aims to strengthen coordination between industry stakeholders and government bodies as competition among international destinations for business events intensifies.
