Gajendra Singh Shekhawat gets culture and tourism portfolios in Modi 3.0 government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday allocated portfolios for the Modi 3.0 government with several key ministers retaining their portfolios.

Following the allocation of ministries, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has taken over as the new Union Minister of Culture and Tourism while Suresh Gopi is the new Minister of State of Tourism.

Shekhawat began his political career as a student in 1992 from Jodhpur’s Jai Narain Vyas University. He earlier served as Union Jal Shakti Minister and Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare in the previous tenure of NDA government. Shekhawat was elected to the Lok Sabha from Jodhpur.

On the other hand, Gopi is the first and the only BJP MP from Kerala. He won the Thrissur seat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Gopi became the face of the ‘Modiyude Guarantee’ (Modi’s Guarantee) promise to Kerala.

The new Union Cabinet held its first meeting at the PM’s residence in the evening.

Modi was sworn in as the Prime Minister of India for his third consecutive term on Sunday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in an impressive ceremony attended by leaders from India’s neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region.
