After a student was confirmed to be infected with the potentially deadly Nipah virus in the state, the tourism and hospitality stakeholders there are a worried lot.
The tourism sector of Kerala reeled under pressure post the outbreak of Nipah virus in the state and subsequent floods last year. Nipah virus had claimed 17 lives in the state in May 2018.
The news of surfacing of deadly Nipah virus comes at a time when the state tourism is back to normal after the last year’s setback.
“We hope that there are no more people infected with the virus. And if that’s the case we may see few cancellations,” said a Kerala based tour operator who didn’t wish to be named.
A central team of six officers
