As Indian travellers embrace more purposeful and experience-driven journeys, Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas is positioning itself as a premier destination that blends world-class hospitality with authentic cultural immersion. In an exclusive conversation with Rishab Sahney, Resort Commercial Director of the property, shared insights on shifting travel trends, the property’s competitive edge, and upcoming initiatives designed to engage the Indian market.
Q: What are the new-age travel trends you observe among Indian travellers?
We’re seeing a clear shift from “just a holiday” to purpose-led travel. For many Indian guests, it’s now about curating experiences that reflect their interests—whether that’s immersing themselves in local culture, combining leisure with adventure, or creating multi-generational memories. From sunrise desert safaris to private chef’s tables, the focus is on personalisation and moments that can’t be replicated elsewhere.
Q: With the rise of Airbnbs, how do you stay competitive?
Our market is different. Guests who choose Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas are looking for more than accommodation—they want the assurance of world-class hospitality, curated experiences, and a seamless stay. From seven signature restaurants and diverse dining venues to the Middle East’s largest water and adventure park, everything is within our 3.5 km beachfront estate. This integrated ecosystem is something home rentals simply can’t match. That said, online booking portals do influence traveller choices, so we ensure our value proposition is clear, competitive, and consistently communicated.
Q: Any upcoming commercial marketing activities, such as roadshows or FAM trips?
Yes, we have a strong calendar ahead. In the next quarter alone, we’re participating in roadshows with Visit Qatar, along with workshops planned in cities like Ahmedabad. We’ve introduced competitive packages for the Indian market and work closely with travel partners to showcase experiences such as private dolphin cruises, our 57,000 sqm Desert Falls Water & Adventure Park, and curated excursions—ensuring agents have compelling stories to share with their clients.
Q: Beyond weddings and events, why should people choose Qatar? Your top three reasons.
First, Qatar’s rich heritage and culture, with its souqs, museums, and architecture, offer an authentic Middle Eastern experience. Second, it’s a global sports hub, with world-class facilities and events like the FIFA World Cup 2022 that have put it on the map. Third, natural wonders such as the Inland Sea—where the desert meets the ocean—provide landscapes you won’t find anywhere else.
Q: Hilton Salwa already has one of Qatar’s largest theme parks. What’s next for attracting Indian travellers?
Our focus is on creating reasons to visit, even if Qatar isn’t the primary destination. For travellers in transit or planning a short break, we offer an immersive three- or four-day experience that combines beachfront relaxation, water park thrills, and signature dining. By packaging these with attractive seasonal offers and working with partners like Qatar Tourism and Qatar Airways, we’re making Hilton Salwa a “must-experience” stop on the Middle East circuit.
