Yashobhoomi prepares for final expansion with second phase development

The India International Convention Centre (IICC), popularly known as Yashobhoomi, is set to launch the bidding process for its second and final phase of development. This expansion is poised to further establish Yashobhoomi as a premier global destination for exhibitions and conventions.

The first phase of Yashobhoomi, inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, marked a significant milestone in India’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry. The upcoming second phase will add an additional 180,000 m² of indoor exhibiting space, bringing the total to a massive 300,000 m² upon completion.

Phil Chung, CEO of KINEXIN Convention Management, the South Korea-based venue operator of Yashobhoomi, confirmed the imminent bidding process: “The Government of India will officially announce the bidding process to develop the commercial land adjacent to the existing facility. Once the second phase is complete, Yashobhoomi will be among the largest indoor exhibition venues in the world.”

In less than two years since its opening, Yashobhoomi has hosted over 300 events, attracting diverse trade shows and conventions from multiple industries. The venue has become a key player in India’s event industry, drawing leading international exhibitions and conventions.

Phil Chung further emphasized the venue’s growing global significance: “We are attracting a lot of globally renowned trade shows and conventions, positioning both Yashobhoomi and India as a preferred MICE destination. We are actively engaging with event organizers from the US, South Korea, UK, Israel, and China to bring high-profile international exhibitions to India.”

With the completion of its second phase, Yashobhoomi is set to become one of the largest and most advanced convention and exhibition centers in the world. The expansion is expected to further elevate India’s presence in the global MICE market, offering unparalleled infrastructure and facilities to international exhibitors and attendees.

Despite India’s sustained economic growth, the exhibition industry has not kept pace with urban development in the capital city. Recognizing the need for a space that catalyzes economic activities and showcases India’s achievements on the international stage, the IICC Centre was conceived as a smart and efficient mixed-use urban development.
