Cambodia Angkor Air set to launch historic direct flights connecting India

Cambodia Angkor Air is gearing up to introduce a historic air route with four direct flights per week from Phnom Penh to New Delhi starting June 16. This service will establish the first-ever direct air link between the two nations.

Eng Molina, the Chief Commercial Officer at Cambodia Angkor Air, expressed optimism about the Indian market during a trade event in New Delhi on May 14. “The Indian outbound tourism market is rapidly expanding, and with India’s growing interest in exploring new destinations like Cambodia, we foresee a strong demand for this route. Plans are underway to increase these flights to a daily schedule and to expand our network to include Siem Reap and other major Indian cities such as Mumbai,” Molina explained. Additionally, Molina disclosed that the airline plans to initiate discussions with Indian carriers about a potential codeshare agreement.

Kuong Koy, Cambodia Ambassador to India underscored how direct flights will facilitate Indian entrepreneurs to invest in vibrant Cambodia.

Seila Hul, Under Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism, highlighted upcoming promotional campaigns targeting the Indian market, “Our campaigns will not only focus on promoting Siem Reap but will also highlight Cambodia’s stunning beaches, vibrant cities, and eco-tourism opportunities.”

Chhay Sivlin, President, Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA) said, “We are preparing tour packages that cater to short weekend trips as well as extended stays up to 15 nights for the Indian market. While Angkor Wat remains a favourite, we aim to also spotlight our cultural heritage sites and unique experiences like river cruises and bird watching,” Sivlin noted.
