ONDC, or Open Network Digital Commerce, is a game-changing platform for the F&B industry. It offers an alternative to traditional food delivery services like Zomato and Swiggy, providing a more cost-effective solution for businesses. ONDC operates on a decentralised network, which eliminates the need for middlemen and reduces transaction costs. This allows restaurants and food providers to offer their services at lower prices to customers. The platform is powered by blockchain technology, which ensures transparency and security in all transactions. As a result, ONDC is quickly gaining popularity among F&B players, and is set to revolutionise the way the industry operates.

Vineet Tushir, Founder, Verandah
As the founder of Verandah, a fine-dining restaurant in Delhi, I see the recent launch of ONDC as a potentially exciting development in the food industry. ONDC is an Open Network digital commerce platform that offers an alternative to established food delivery players like Swiggy and Zomato. ONDC’s focus on transparency and affordability is a much-needed change in the food delivery market. I believe that ONDC’s pricing structure could be a game-changer for restaurants and food businesses, allowing them to save on commission fees and increase their margins. This could be especially beneficial for high-end restaurants like Verandah, which typically have lower volumes of orders but higher prices per order.
I also see ONDC’s open network as a potential advantage for restaurants, as it could allow them to connect directly with customers and build their brand. This is in contrast to the closed networks of Swiggy and Zomato, which he believes can limit a restaurant’s ability to establish a direct relationship with its customers.
However, ONDC is still a relatively new player in the market, and it remains to be seen how successful it will be over the long term. ONDC must prove itself as a reliable and efficient platform to compete with established players like Swiggy and Zomato. Nevertheless, he is optimistic about the potential of ONDC to provide a much-needed alternative in the food delivery market
Sahil Sambhi, Founder, The Drunken Botanist
As the founder of Drunken Restaurant, I am optimistic about the potential of the recently launched ONDC platform. ONDC is an Open Network digital commerce platform that offers an alternative to established food delivery players like Swiggy and Zomato. According to me, ONDC has the potential to offer greater flexibility and control to f&b players, allowing them to save on commission fees and increase their profits. ON DC’s pricing structure is more transparent and lower than Swiggy and Zomato. This means that restaurants and food businesses can save on commission fees, which can be a significant cost for small and medium-sized enterprises. By reducing these costs, ONDC may be able to help f&b players increase their margins and provide greater value to customers. The rise of digital commerce has created a growing need for a platform like ONDC that offers an open and accessible network for restaurants and food businesses. He believes that ONDC could level the playing field and provide greater opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses to succeed in the competitive food industry. While ONDC is a relatively new player in the market, I am optimistic about its potential. However, he acknowledges that it remains to be seen how successful ONDC will be over the long term and whether it can truly provide a viable alternative to established players like Swiggy and Zomato.
