Second Anantara property opened in Italy

Anantara Hotels has announced further strides into Italy with the opening of Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, the second Anantara in Italy.

Nestled high above the town of Amalfi on Italy’s alluring Amalfi Coast, Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, is set in a restored 13th-century cliffside Capuchin convent.  The 800-year-old building underwent a thoughtful renovation to carefully preserve historic features including ornate cloisters and an on-site Baroque church complete with a marble altar and Majolica floor.

With each of the 52 guest rooms and suites elegantly renovated to preserve original elements, the creation of elevated dining concepts and a world class Anantara Spa, all with panoramic views of the Mediterranean, Anantara Amalfi is a jewel on the iconic coast line. The interior design takes its cues from the convent and the simple, artisanal lives of its original inhabitants with materials sourced from nature, blended with the luxurious details for which Anantara is known.

Dining is a celebration of the region with offerings carefully curated by renowned Italian masters. Executive Chef Claudio Lanuto introduces a convento kitchen concept in which fresh seasonal ingredients grown in the convent garden star in a-la-carte, monk-inspired dishes and sensory tasting menus. An internationally renowned pizza master and ambassador of traditional Neapolitan pizza, Gino Sorbillo, invites diners to savour the flavours of Campania region at a new al fresco gourmet pizzeria.

Emphasising its dedication to destination, Anantara offers unique experiences spanning culture, nature, gastronomy and beyond, guided by local gurus including one of the only remaining Franciscan Friars in the region.
