Turn the radio on and go for a gastronomic journey of Indian flavours at NH44

Dining with a big group of people, friends and family is a challenge as everyone have a different taste buds and are needed different kind of food. Selecting one restaurant offering options for everyone is difficult. So when we were in dilemma to choose right one, we came across NH44 (National Highway 44), a pan-Indian restaurant, in the heart of CP, New Delhi.  The restaurant and had experience of a a wholesome culinary voyage from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.  A brainchild of Businessmen, Udit Bagga & Udit Bhasin, the restaurant draws inspiration from India’s longest highway and offers authentic flavors that are unique to each state touched by the highway.

The menu highlights the specialities from different states and brings the food of highways from Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Lucknow, Gujrat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Parsi, Rajasthan, Andhra, Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Kashmir to Kanyakumari and more. Each state has their distinct taste and methodology of preparing their specialities.

What enticed us the most was the thoughtfully designed a-la-carte menu that features an extensive variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian classics that capture the unique culinary essence of the states touched by the highway. The ambience is simple and you can hear the ghazals, peppy numbers in the background, which aptly suits the ambience of an highway. The staff is polite and hospitable and service is good.

In starters, we went ahead with the platter options in Veg as Non-veg as we were really confused between what to choose and what to leave. Thankfully the experienced Chef understood our thoughts and suggested us to try their platter which consisted of assorted tikkas and kebabs to try on. Apart from that we also ordered for Dahi Kebab and Ghee Roast Chicken, which for us were the highlight of the evening. They whet our appetite immediately and set the mood straight.

After the hearty starters we moved to our main course which consist of Malai Kofta, Dhaba Dal Tarka, Patrani Fish (Parsi Style banana leaf wrapped steamed fish, which usually taken in starter but we ordered with the main course), Gutta Curry (Rajasthan special) and Dogri Khatta Meat with Butter Naan and Ghacchi Pulao. What a feast it was and we loved each and every dish. Lastly we had Moong dal ka halwa to finish the flavourful journey. Also not to be missed their Jal Jeera Mojito and Chulbul Chatkara for a perfect accompaniment.

It is difficult to try every state’s dish so we will definitely be coming again to try the ones which are left. Overall the menu is compiled to tempt the most discerning palate and are definitely worth visiting!
