Indian travel agents come together to highlight critical issues of industry

Members of the Indian travel industry recently came together on a platform to discuss the most pressing challenges confronting the sector.

Titled “Travel Industry Meet”, this event focused on critical issues like Tax Collected at Source (TCS), Goods and Services Tax (GST), the need for a Simplified Tax Structure, and Unethical Trade Practices—topics that have long been neglected or entangled in power plays.

More than 100 plus travel agents and media fraternities attended the session offline and online. The organizers of the event were prominent travel trade members like Shailendra Kumar Shrivastava from Krishana Holidays, Hemant Passi from DuniyaOnline, Pradeep Shishodia from Liana Tourism, Rohit Kumar from Holidays Worldwide and Naveen Nahar, Citadelii Travelz Factory LLP and many others. Apart from travel trade, the session was also attended by Arjun Akruwala from ASA GST Advisory Services, Vibhor Gupta from Gupta Vibhor & Associates and Pranaw Kumar Mishra from Pranaw Mishra & Associates.

Naveen Nahar from Citadelii Travelz Factory LLP, expressed the importance of this gathering, saying, “The travel industry is going through challenging times, and it is crucial that we address these issues collectively. This meeting is a platform for everyone to discuss TCS, GST, and other complexities with tax experts and legal professionals. We need to find simplified solutions that will benefit all stakeholders in the industry. We are here to find solutions, not play politics”

Pradeep Shishodia from Liana Tourism emphasized the role of every member of the travel fraternity in making this movement a success, “This meeting is more than just a discussion; it’s a movement. Each one of us must contribute to the cause. Even if you can’t be there physically, your support is essential. Participation through the online platform ensured that one stayed informed and engaged in these vital conversations. Let’s take this movement forward together.”

This pivotal meeting was a game-changer, and offered equal rights and authority to every participant. A panel of tax experts and lawyers were available during the meeting to offer insights and guided participants through potential strategies to overcome these challenges.

To make this discussion accessible to the entire travel fraternity, those who were unable to attend in person participated online. This provided them access to live discussions and debates, allowing participants to engage with the panel from the comfort of their home or office.
