Celebrate the auspicious occasion of Makar Sakranti at Sana-di-ge Delhi

Makar Sankranti one of the most important  Hindu festivals that celebrates the entry of sun in the Makar rashi and also signifying the end of winter and start of harvest or spring. This major harvest festival celebrated by Hindus known by different names in different states, like the Sikhs called it the Lohri, its called Poush sôngkrānti in Maharashtra, Goa, Magh Bihu by Assamese, Pongal by Tamils and so on.

Rejoicing in the spirit of the festival in which one of the most important aspects is food, Sana di ge Delhi has put together a special Makar Sakrant thali which contains popular dishes which are relished in this festival in the coastal areas. The delicious Sakrant thali contains  SAMBHARAM , a Spicy buttermilk with fresh coriander, ginger and curry leaves; Kerala all time favorite cooler,  UPPERI (Banana chips ); SHARKARA UPPERI (Sweet banana chips); NARANGA ACHAR (Lemon pickle); PULI INGI (Tamarind ginger pickle); KOSHMABRI SALAD (Traditional Kannadiga salad); SURAN KADLE SUKKA (Yam and black chick peas cooked in grated coconut and Mangalorean ground spices); MANOLI UPKARI (Ivy guard and cashew nut cooked with onions, curry leaves and green chilly finished with grated coconut) ; AVIAL  (A mélange of local vegetables tossed in a paste of coconut a delicacy from Kerala); MANGALORE SAMBAR (Fresh vegetables cooked in Mangalorean sambar masala); ALOO VATANA GASSI (Green peas and potatoes cooked in Mangalorean whole spice mix and coconut milk) ; RASAM; PARUPPU CURRY (Lentil curry with coconut- an accompaniment for rice) ; PONGAL (Pongal recipe made with moong lentils, rice, spices and curry leaves. It is the traditional South Indian comfort food.);  DOSA , KUTHARI CHORU, APPLAM . Culminate your meal with sweet delicacies of  CHANA DAL PAYASAM  (jaggery sweetened  cows milk & coconut milk  with cooked channa dal )  and ELLU LADDU. Enjoy the meal with special CUTTNG MASALA CHAI.
