Thailand’s government has decided to prolong the visa-free entry for Indian tourists for an additional six months, aiming to increase tourist numbers. Following the conclusion of the current exemption this Friday (May 10), visitors from India can travel to Thailand without a visa until November 11, announced Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin after a cabinet session on Tuesday (May 7). Under this program, tourists can stay up to 30 days per visit.
This extension is a continuation of the successful initial visa waiver introduced last November. Thailand, which relies heavily on tourism, has been easing visa regulations for key markets, including China and Russia. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand welcomed over 12 million international tourists in the first four months of 2024, marking a 39% rise compared to the same timeframe in the previous year. The largest contingents of tourists, coming from China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, and India, made up half of all visitors this year.
