Goa’s international travel mart kickstarts as the state looks to promote its diverse tourism offerings

The Goa International Travel Mart (GITM) 2024 kicked off with a grand inaugural ceremony held at Bay 15, Dona Paula on April 2, 2024. 

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Chief Secretary, Government of Goa, Suneel Anchipaka, Director Tourism & Managing Director – Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Nilesh Shah, President, Travel & Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), Vivek Kerkar, Skal, President – Goa Chapter and Carlos Desouza, Convenor, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). 

Anchipaka delivered the opening address, emphasizing the significance of GITM in promoting tourism and fostering meaningful collaborations. 

We are committed to the growth of tourism sector in a sustainable way. Our focus is to promote diverse tourism products available in Goa including rural and wellness tourism. We are coming up with two wellness resorts under public private partnership (PPP) model. Plans are also in the pipeline to work closely with Ministry of Ayush to promote Goa for Yoga and Ayurveda too,” added Anchipaka.

Nilesh Shah, TTAG President while addressing the delegates said, “At the 4th edition of GITM 2024, we find a pivotal platform aimed not only at fostering sustainable and regenerative tourism practices but also promoting Goa beyond beaches. GITM 2024 stands as a staunch advocate for preserving and promoting Goa’s natural and cultural heritage, ensuring the welfare of our community and the environment.”

Anchipaka highlighted that by bringing together industry stakeholders, professionals, and enthusiasts from around the world, GITM is providing a unique opportunity to showcase the diverse offerings of Goa to a global audience. 

More than 250 national and international buyers including hosted ones are expected to attend the event besides 50 sellers. The event will have expert-led sessions, workshops, and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics from sustainable tourism practices to emerging market trends. The event will conclude on April 4.
