Namaste DesiS

By Divya Bhatia

Voila! ‘Namaste Asia’ – a pan Asian kitchen, launched their second cloud kitchen, ‘Namaste Desi,’ specialising in north Indian cuisine. Namaste Asia has already set a benchmark, so I can confidently vouch for Namaste India to outshine the popularity of Namaste Asia in Delhi/NCR. Paying homage to their forefathers, Namaste Desi brings out the popular recipes from the northern frontiers especially the dishes from their ancestral hometowns of Karachi, Lahore & Sindh. The handpicked menu at Namaste Desi has been carefully curated and includes an impressive spread of tantalizing culinary specialties of northern India that promises to satiate your palate.

The menu offers eclectic mix of street food and plenty of homely dishes that primarily focus on flavours. The highlights of the menu are the unique recipes that have been fostered and passed down through generations of food lovers. In appetizers I tried Chargrilled Malai Soya Chaap, Truffle Malai Brocolli, Malai Paneer Tikka and Desi Ghee Ka Murg Tikka. The palpable flavour of Truffle in Malai Brocolli and Chargrilled Malai Soya Chaap (smokiness mixed with super rich flavours just melted in the mouth), were extremely delectable. Both the tikkas were also equally distinguished.

In the main course, we tried mouth-watering Murgh Makhani, succulent Gosht Nihari, Kadhai Paneer, Palak wala Meat and Dal Namaste Desi. Every dish leaves your palate singing for more and gives you a happy smile after every bite. The Dal Makhani calls for a special mention though. I felt that the Makhani served here was one of the best Dal Makhanis I have ever had in Delhi; slowly cooked lentils with perfect blend of spices have a power to be on your taste buds for a long time. And Palak Wala Meat had richness of spinach and was flavoursome. We also tried the Ghost Biryani which were made with the aromatic spices and high-quality basmati rice.

With a strong belief in the ‘farm-to-table’ ideology, Namaste Desi strives to make the freshest seasonal and sustainable produce from all over the country accessible to its patrons while following a zero-waste strategy in the kitchen. Packaging and quantity of food per item also needs special mention as they are carefully thought and executed.

In desserts, the Phirnis are out of the world. With the fragrance of saffron and the right amount of sugar, it satiates and wins extra points too!

So, if you’re craving for a real north-Indian cuisine, by now you know where you should head!
