CIC to brainstorm ways to double international meetings in India

The 12th Conventions India Conclave (CIC), the flagship event of India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) is all set to take place in Kochi from August 29 to 31.

The first session of the event is “HARD TALK” with Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Rani George, Secretary, Tourism, Kerala Government.The session will be moderated by CEO of ICCA.

As the theme of the conclave is “Mapping the Sustainable MICE Future of India”, the focus area during the conclave will be aiming to be top ten meeting destinations in the world by 2023. There will be a panel discussion on deliberating how India can double the number of international meetings.

As per the organisers of the event, the response to the 12th CIC has been encouraging. “Not only we have good number of buyers, both domestic and international but also with good profile from various segments like association heads, organizers of medical and non-medical conferences and it is the first time we also have good number of corporates too,” said a press release issued by ICPB.

“We have as of now in total 83 domestic and 26 international and quite hopeful of getting 100 domestic buyers and 30 international buyers. The above figures are keeping in view of us being very selective in selection of buyers and we are also expecting good number of buyers from Kerala,” the release added.

On the exhibition front,  ICPB is expecting a record number of exhibitors. It already has 66 confirmed booths and target is to get 75 booths. 

On the program front, having CEO of ICCA as a keynote speaker will definitely give insight of international convention industry and their marketing strategy to the participants. The Minister of Tourism, Government of Kerala has confirmed his participation and the Chief Minister of Kerala is expected to be the Chief Guest. There will be a boat race on August 29th afternoon – a traditional race using canoe boats which has a history from kingship period.

The other activities include green walk / ayurvedic discourse and golf tournament. ICPB will also be opening its second state chapter on the lines of Kolkata Chapter.
