The press conference will see presence of delegates from TAITRA, and other associate partners. This expo will help to further strengthen trade relationship between the two countries.

Ms. Karen Pai, Deputy Executive Director, TAITRA said, “The response we saw in our first ever expo in India was phenomenal. The trade ties between India and Taiwan continue to grow with each passing year. Taiwan Expo is a curated exhibition based on the ‘The New Southbound Policy’, formulated by the Taiwanese government. The Expo offers insight into Taiwan’s knowledge and experience in various fields including technology, agriculture, healthcare, education, culture and tourism to share with India and facilitate a long-term, and mutually-beneficial bilateral relationship.”

In recent years, trade between Taiwan and India has grown substantially both in imports and exports. Mutual investments into each of the countries have also increased. Such growth illustrates the successful union of The New Southbound Policy and the Act East Policy of the Indian government,” added Pai.

Economic and trade data show the total trade volume between Taiwan and India in 2018 was the highest over the past five years and increased by approximately 10.87% over 2017 (i.e. US$6.366 billion). In fact, India has been Taiwan’s 16th largest trading partner for two consecutive years.

Taiwan Expo 2019 will be based on the collaborative directions between Taiwan and India. India is the base for Taiwanese companies to venture into profitable industries and consumer markets worldwide, and it is also the foothold for TAITRA to lead Taiwanese entrepreneurs to explore the global market. As a multi-faceted exhibition aimed at marketing Taiwan, Taiwan Expo is the perfect platform to introduce Taiwan to India, and strengthen the exchange for both sides. Taiwan Expo 2019 will touch on the subjects of food, clothing, transportation, culture and tourism by presenting Taiwan as a smart city in terms of its smart healthcare, lifestyle, agriculture, green technology, education, culture, and tourism.

Taiwan Expo 2019 aims to build on the immense success of the maiden edition of the event that took place last year. Taiwan Expo 2018 recorded participation from a significant number of exhibitors showcasing their products. About 18,000 visitors marked their presence at the expo too. This year’s edition is being co-organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and is being supported by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).

Taiwan Expo 2019 will see participation from 130 exhibitors showcasing their state-of-the-art products through 230 booths. The show will be open between 10:00 AM to 6:00 pm.
